Photo @coryrichards TBT to 2010 and the quiet before the Everest storm. As tourists and climbers return to Everest after the tragic events of the previous two years, there seems to be a sense of forgetfulness that is at once intentional and timid. There is a hopefulness and a pervasive tension. @adrianballinger and I are headed into the Khumbu tmrw to acclimatize while we wait for the border to open…an unexpected change to the plan. All is well tho as we head to the north side of Everest for a no Os attempt. I think the yak and I feel the same way about Ama Dablam. I’ve climbed it 13 times, and walked around it many more. It’s still my favorite mountain in the world. #EverestNoFilter #Everest2016 Adrian Ballinger (@adrianballinger) tarafından paylaşılan bir fotoğraf ()
Violent winds and the end of day coalesce on the South Side of Everest. It’s a scene that I remember vividly from my 2012 attempt on the West Ridge of Everest. This year with any luck, alongside @adrianballinger as our first expedition with @eddiebauer, I hope to see the view from the summit without oxygen, having climbed from the North side in order to avoid the icefall. We’ll be documenting our trip on SnapChat under EverestNoFilter and our personal accounts, crichardsphoto and aidrianjb as well as our Instagram accounts. If you have any interest in going for one last mellow training hike with us, we’ll be meeting at Mt. Sanitas in Boulder on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Feel free to join!!!! #EverestNoFilter #liveyouradventure
Pushing forward into the Himalayas with short stop in Kathmandu. The Boudhanath brings the full power of human kind together in a circle. May we all find our paths to help lead this world in a better direction. One of hope and caring for future generations. #liveyouradventure @eddiebauer #everestnofilter follow on snapchap @everestnofilter markstonephoto (@markstonephoto) tarafından paylaşılan bir fotoğraf ()
Grasping at blessings. Smoke, the physical manifestation of prayer envelopes a passing hand in Kathmandu. The pungent, humanity affirming, often acrid aroma of life stacked upon life stacked upon life is thick in the valley. As tourists and climbers return after the tragic events of the previous two years, there seems to be a sense of forgetfulness that is at once intentional and timid. There is a hopefulness and a pervasive tension. @adrianballinger and I are headed into the Khumbu tmrw to acclimatize while we wait for the border to open…an unexpected change to the plan. Just a few more hours of travel and I get to meet up with this crew again in Kathmandu. @alpenglowexpeditions’s Sherpa team (all trained by the @khumbuclimbingcenter) have been the backbone of all of my #Everest climbs. This year will be no exception. Pasang Rinji will be on supplemental oxygen, and helping to document our climb high on the mountain. And while @coryrichards and I plan to do carries, set camps, and break trail when we can, we know that our Sherpa team, and the Sherpa working with other teams, make our climb safer and easier. There is no such thing as an unsupported climb on the two normal routes on Everest. Every climber, including the sponsored ones, benefit from their work. Honored to share a rope with some of the best once again this year. #EverestNoFilter #Everest2016 Adrian Ballinger (@adrianballinger) tarafından paylaşılan bir fotoğraf ()
In the past three days we covered 41 miles, climbed 16,000 feet of vert, and reached over 18,000 feet. We are documenting our actual #EverestNoFilter day-to-day movements with @stravarun. I’ve been using Strava for years at home while training and in the mountains. This season, Strava is helping us create routes and segments on the North Side of #Everest. And now, while unexpectedly acclimatizing on the Nepal side of the mountain. Follow us on Strava to better understand our daily movements! Link in profile. #stravaphoto
